Finding time to get lost in your own thoughts is an important part of my day.  I truly long for the peace and quiet mother nature can bring me.

Being a mom and a boutique owner sometimes feels like a hamster on a running wheel.  The wash never ends, the dishes continue to pile up, and my UPS guy just stares at me with every box of fabric he dumps at my front door.  It never ends, and I guess I would not have it any other way.  I realize the stress and the balancing act we all face is just part of life now, but it is important to find just a sliver of "me-time" in all that craziness.

So what do I do? I take walks.  Every morning (sometimes a little earlier then I would like due to the heat of Florida) I walk my dog, and get lost in the sounds of birds and squirrels.  I often listen to music when the tasks of the day seem a bit overwhelming.  I listen to NPR when I feel like I need a bit more insight into politics or our community's concerns.  Most of the time, it is just me and my dog.


I also scout out places that I like to photograph.  Photography has taught me to look at color in a whole new way.  I observe light now coming through trees, and how beautiful sun rays can reflect the light.  I notice bushes full of blooms, and the various different colors of grass.  Mother nature just fills my head with inspiration.  My 45 minute walks every morning, get my day off to a great start.   How do you tackle stress?  I love trying new ideas, so give me some of your ideas.
