I have learned through the years to go with my first instinct or visual concept of whatever I am working on. I imagine what it will look like, and on a whim just cut it out. The hardest part to me when designing a dress is figuring out what pattern I want to use. I want a pattern that comes in a wide range of sizes or one that I trust will fit. I don’t like using patterns that look like blocks of fabric cut out in a straight line. I do believe that we all have curves, and thus so should our clothing patterns. Once I get all of this “visualization” together in my head I cut. I paste, I draw, and I sew. Many times, I visualize a dress once the fabric is unpacked from the boxes. Most of the time, I visualize too many things, and cannot make up my mind. That would be the case with our Hannah Dress.
I love this fabric, and I doubt this will be the only dress I make using this fabric. I ordered 30 yards of it in both colorways – aqua and green. At the moment, I just wanted to play with it, and since it is summer, and since I have been asked for several size 2 customs, I decided on this dress. It is playful, uncomplicated, and a great fit. It has an elastic back, flutter sleeves that will protect the shoulders from sunburn, and straps that tie in the back. The skirt is full and will twirl to your hearts content. The main skirt fabric is a paisley on a creamy background, with pink and red roses. I combined it with a solid pink hatch fabric and a matching pink ribbon on the hem. Simply cute.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
